At those prices it doesn’t take long to pay for a very nice table lift, shop manual and the specialty tools needed for services

The 1K maintenance for free with the purchase of a new bike, but I never took the bike back after that.

Yea, that will make your butt hole hurt ! All they bare doing is playing on the fear they instill in people with all the warrenty crap. Most don't even do anything to the bike when you take it in. My youngest brother took his new bike in for the 1000 mile check againest my advice. I told him to mark the oil filter and sure enough they didn't even install a new one , but charged him for it. They do little but look at the bike for $500. Buy a service manual and learn how to use it is the best advice anyone could give you.

My current bikes warranty was up about six months ago. I had a dealer perform all the services during the warranty period. Hasn’t been in a service dept since and I'm getting to old to be crawling around on the garage floor. I now take the difference between what my service materials cost and what I would pay a dealer and put that money aside. I will use that money to buy myself a good lift.

First clutch recall on the Rushmore's in 2014, I took my Street Glide to the dealer.
When I got the bike home, there was a card in the pouch on the dash from:

www.truthbetold.com

Basically what the site was saying is that us folk that do our own maintenance aren't
really doing anything except "not giving the dealer the funds they so desperately need to operate."

Not only are we NOT do the maintenance Harley's need, but we don't even adjust or lube things that
need adjusting or lubing.
Bottom line is; a lot of our problems are caused by us: the 'unqualified to do maintenance.'

Buy a bike lift, and do the fluid changes yourself. Save some money, learn about Harleys and have some fun!

I agree. Being a qualified Harley-Davidson mechanic and doing “all” the tasks specified in the factory maintenance schedules is whyI believe my bikes have always been virtually trouble free.

The maintenance items are in the owners manual just follow it and you should be ok , and the service cost does increase with mileage , a shop manual is a must have even it does cost over one hundred dollars

Depending upon the level of lithium (a constituent that carries EP properties,) that value can be almost 30%...
