Rode in on my Wing, rode off on my ultra

Rode in on my Wing, rode off on my ultra
Guy comes and buys my Wing this morning in a short bed pickup w/no ramp.
After we make the deal, he can't figure out how we're gonna load the thing.
Finally it dawns on me, I call the HD dealer where I'm suppose to pick up my new Ultra today and ask if they can do me a "big" favor. Problem solved, plus dealer passes first test with flying colors. I ride it there, they load it for "him", and he's off for 300 mile trip home.
Now, my bike is ready, 2 hrs before they said it would be, so I don't have to go home and come back to get it.
A couple of first impressions:
First, I didn't notice a big difference in the handling of the Ultra to the Wing.
I rode the Wing like a touring bike, not a Sport bike so I guess the super handling I heard so much about with the wing was wasted on me.
Second, the heat, it was 89 degrees and 100% humidity here in Lowsyana today. I didn't notice any great increase in heat comming from the engine than I did from the radiators on the Wing. The ambiant air gauge read over 100 degrees. I don't know where the pickup for that thing is but it didn't seem that hot.
Third, for a Touring bike, I couldn't ask for anymore grunt than this thing has got. Shifted it just before 3 grand and it accellerated, I thought, smooth and wonderful.
Fouth, the ride was so much smoother than my 02 Wing. I wouldn't say floating on a cloud, but compared to it I had a big grin on my face.
Fifth, "hicup", the wind noise was less on the ultra which made the Stereo sound better too, and when I tried the headset for the first time, WOW. It sounded like a walkman or something not like the 9v AM radio sound the JM's had on my Wing.
Sixth, perfect place for this one, the six speed. Oh man. After I broke it in I got to shift it into 5 and 6. That smooth 2500 at 75 was so morepleasing to the ear than 4200, well, the grin turned into a smile.
I know I only rode it 55 miles and once. But so far the "fun" is back into my riding. Nothing against the Wing or Wingers out there. It just wasn't my can of beer. I had to try one cause I heard how great they are, and they will eat up the hiway, but when it's the journey and not the destination, for me, it's my new Ultra.
Just some thoughts.

Great story!
Welcome to the fold. I came from 21 years on metrics (never a wing), I bought a new Ultra 2 months ago. I have 2600 miles on it (another 500 coming this weekend). I couldn't be happier. The bike handles great, rides well and just looks cool. There is NOTHING like a Harley!
Good luck and let the modding begin!
P.S. HD stands for "Hundred Dollars". I have NEVER been to the dealer without spending less!

Nellebelle,
To be perfectly clear, my JM's that came with my Wing, no matter how I adusted the Bass and Treble, sounded like and old AM radio. You know, no Bass and even somewhat crackly.
The HD that came with my ultra sounds more like the headset with my son's
portable CD player. Boom Bass, clear sound.
I don't know if the JM's were faulty or not but both driver and passenger sounded the same.
