Default How to Adjust Handlebars - 08 Ultra Classic

Easy question I hope. I just picked up an '08 Ultra Classic and the handlebars are a tad bit too low. Any help on the easiest way to get to the screws/bolts to raise them, other than the dealer of course.. Cheers!!

You won't get much adjustment, they are just poorly designed. If you ride any more than very little you should consider replacing them with something that fits you better.

I used to have an 08 Ulra. The handlebars were not rolled all the way forward from the factory. I adjusted mine by removing the ignition switch, then the plastic cover beneath that. The rear Allen bolts were now visible. Cutting an Allen wrench down to size allowed me to loosen the rear bolts, roll the handlebars forward and re tighten. That little bit of movement made a large difference in comfort. .

Quite plainly the bars rotate in the mounts, once slackened off, however the range of adjustment is actually quite a lot IMHO. It's fascinating to see how the grips change their angle as the bars are rotated. From what you say it should be easy enough to get them 'just so', although in my case (on an older model) it did take several attempts, as sitting in the saddle while stationary in the garage isn't quite the same as rolling down the road, shooting the breeze!

Well Shoot!! That wasn't even a One Beer Project... Once the console was moved the two rear bolts were easily accessible. It took longer to adjust the clutch handle, front brake handle and mirrors where I wanted them than moving the bars. Thanks for the help!! Cheers!!

Well you deserve a beer anyway! It's amazing how a small change can improve riding comfort.
