. Are the bars on the new specials the same as the factory bars were on the 14 and others? They were extremely comfortable, but to me they looked goofy. Had to do hook mini apes. Lol.
Appreciate any thoughts on older vs new. I like the M8 engine, got a 107 softie. Thanz guys!
Stock handlebar on RKS is unbearable uncomfortable. You HAVE to change it immediately

Very nice.
Do you know which handlebars you have and do you like them?

I do find it kind of funny how buy a RK then try to turn it into a Touring bike. Nice looking ride and if it fits the needs good to go.
There is a reason they offer different models. Man buys what he wants.
But one HD I would never own.

Had 2 RK's. Loved them both but didn't like riding with the windshield on, so went to a SG. The wind was starting to beat my aging *** up. Lol. I do like all the goodies on a fairing bike, but will never not like the "King of the Road"! Maybe another RK will be in my garage someday???

After demoing HD's full touring line-up for the past several years at Laconia bike week the Road King Special always gave me the biggest grin. As a matter of fact, when I first rode one in 2017 I was so surprised by the power and handling that I pulled over on the demo ride and told my buddy he had to ride this. We swapped bikes, I took his RGS and he took the RKS. At the end of the ride, he was certain it had a Stage 2 at least, but when we returned to the demo tent we were told "nope, stock 107 feels faster because lighter and wind in your face". We both called it the hooligan bike. It was the bike I least expected to buy, but riding is believing. Picked up this gem, my first HD, earlier this year and love it. Long live the King.

Exact same thing happened to me. I got Heritage at the time and thought I will never get rid of it. I went to Demo days in Milwaukee and tried SG but this bike didnt talk to me I felt too disconnected on it. I was ready to leave and RKS just pulled up and I was heck lets try this one expecting it will be same feel. I was so wrong this is completely different ride. I felt in love with bags and classic look of this ride (comparing to other Touring as Heritage has most classic look of them all I think). I got mine at the end of the season so I am still tweaking it a bit to get more comfort out of it as suspension comparing to Softail is horrible but Legends took care of it. Cant wait for long trip on this bike this season.
I document my modifications on my YouTube channel and it is fun.

Great job on the video. Exact same experience for me. Went in thinking I would be choosing between the Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special and left choosing the Road King Special!.

Nothing but metric bikes for me since 1980.. Mostly sport bikes . Until 2018 when I got the RK. Love it and other than changes for comfort ( fork fangs, different windscreen, seat and added the tour pack). Other than MAYBE updating the shocks, I see no changes going forward. Its great as is.

this rear shock on the back is game changer for me. Outstanding upgrade worth every penny.
