I personally wouldn’t spend the money on the LiOn, but, I also have no personal experience with them either

I have had very average luck with motorcycle and car batteries - around 4 years, and they are on borrowed time. My last battery on my RK started cranking noticeably slower, and I decided to replace on principle.

My last car battery died suddenly almost 4 years to the day after I installed it - one day no problem, the next day not even a clicking of the starter....my wife’s car battery did almost the same thing, but, at about 3 years, and with that battery I had spent the extra money to put a super Gee whiz AGM car battery in her car (almost $200) to get 36 months out of it.....needless to say that was replaced by a $120 Interstate wet cell battery from Costco.....

For motorcycle batteries. I put together some information on costs, warranties, cold cranking amps, and sources when I replaced my RK battery in September 2018 - might prove useful —>

Here is what I found - all are AGM batteries, and the prices listed are as of 9/12/18, with the best price I could find.
These are listed in no particular order, but seem to be the best options available....

1) Renegade Wicked Start 30L-WS / RG30L-WS (600cca)
- $109.50 shipped free (direct from AZ Battery / Renegade Battery),1 year warranty, imported

2) ThrottleX X-Rated MX30L (600cca)
- $139.95 shipped free (direct from ThrottleXBatteries), 1 year warranty, imported

3) Renegade Rg30L-BS (500cca)
- $94.50 shipped free (direct from AZ Battery / Renegade Battery),1 year warranty, imported

4) Duracell 30LA (400cca, 26ah)
- 2 versions - Gray and Black - Made in the USA, manufactured and supplied by East Penn Manufacturing - who makes the Deka battery AND the Harley oem battery, both are priced the same (I called and found out the black case version is the previous model and has been replaced by the gray case version)
- $159.99 + tax (your local batteries plus store) - $10.00 core, 2 year warranty, buy online and pickup at local store save 10%

5) Deka ETX30L (400cca, 26ah)
- $104.99 shipped free (direct from Tech Battery Solutions), 1 year warranty, made in the USA by East Penn, is the same battery as Harley oem battery - gray case versus Harley black case

6) Big Crank ETX30L (400cca, 26ah)
- $109.95 shipped free (direct from BatteryMart), 1 year warranty, made in the USA by East Penn, is the same battery as Harley oem battery - gray case versus Harley black case

7) Mega Crank MTX-30L (420cca, 30ah)
- $89.95 shipped free (direct from BatteryMart), 1 year warranty, imported

BatteryMart has very good reviews overall, and is who I chose to buy my recent motorcycle battery from.

Most will want to stay with a battery at 400cca or more, and get a good battery for the money. All of the batteries I have researched are 400cca, 500cca, or 600cca.

That said, the best bang for the $$$, in my opinion = this is the battery purchased —>
- the Mega Crank (420cca - $89.95 delivered, 1 yr warranty,imported - from BatteryMart)

Best buy with most cca =
- the Wicked Start (600cca - $109.50 delivered, 1 year warranty, imported - AZ Battery / Renegade Battery)

Best buy - Made in the USA =
- the Deka (400cca - $104.99 delivered, 1 year warranty - Tech Battery Solutions)

The cold weather is basically non existant. I put my tender on it, still zapping sound i have it back on the tender to top it off, then i am going to check the voltage under load to make sure its not going below 9.5v. Should this HD battery have already **** the bed? I am hoping its not anything major.... but if i do need a new battery AGM or Lith Ion?
Riding around will charge the battery a bit - but it needs to be on highway speeds. Tooling around town will charge it, just will take allot longer than highway speeds.

To the original poster - as a few have recommended, using a full on automotive battery charger for a considerably discharged battery is the only way to get it back. My charger has 2, 4, & 6 amp settings, compared to my battery tender, which only puts out .75 amps. A tender simply doesn’t pack the punch needed to bring back a truly dead battery.

A completely dead battery should take at least 35-45 hours or more with a Battery Tender Junior (0.75 amps), and 20-30 with a Battery Tender Plus (1.25 amps). Unfortunately, these chargers cannot begin to charge a fully depleted battery. They need to sense a certain amount of voltage before they can function.

Lithium batterys are your best bet, seem to last forever without a charge , More power than regular batterys, about 5 pounds

And the easiest warranty replacement, with Batteries+ stores around the country, is the Duracell (4).

Separate the battery from the bike. Charge the battery, then load test the battery. If the battery tests good, let it sit a week or so and retest the battery.
