I read somewhere that you can drain the oil out of the factory air shocks and add 20w shock oil and it’s a much better ride. How do you do this because I’d like to give it a try if its worth it. I can’t seem to find any information on it. Just a little project and any help would be great. Thanks
20w would bit a bit over doing it. What is in them is about 7W going 10 maybe 15 is a big change. There are several threads on the sight about ways to do it.
I also think 20w is to high 10 is what I used and I’m a big guy at 275 lbs, I might could have used 15wt but 10 was fine...Installed Ohlins coil overs and never have to worry about those crappy air shocks again.
FYI no vacuum pump needed. I just used a 50cc horse syringe I got from tractor supply. I have changed the oil for two friends also. Takes about 1/2 hour including removing and replacing the shocks. PM me and we can discuss my procedure. It is rather simple to extract old and inject 10 ounces of new oil in a 13 inch shock.
