This is kind of a stupid post.....I'm trying to make myself wear my 3/4 helmet more, but I actually have more exhaust roar than without a helmet. Would a full face do the same thing?

Guess it's reflecting off my fairing/lowers,etc and back inside?

If I'm going to wear a helmet over my ears, I want it to be quieter than no helmet.....suggestions?

Yep, ear plugs. My 3/4 is much louder than my 1/2 but I always wear ear plugs with both.

 

This is very strange. I wear my 3/4 helmet when on the interstate. It cuts down the wind noise for me. Then again, I have stock pipes.

 

I use ear plugs on long road trips, but I was wondering if full face helmets do the same thing?

 

You cut the wind noise down with your 3/4 helmet on and your going to hear the engine and exhaust noise better.Without the helmet,the exhaust noise is muted by the wind noise.

 

I have a FF Shoei X-11 and noise isn't a factor like it is with a 3/4 or 1/2. I wear my FF when the temps drop below 45 or so. It's also so much more aerodynamic you don't get the helmet buffeting you do with the open face helmets. But my 1/2 helmet is still my favorite......

 

I agree. Your hearing is improved with the absents of wind noise.

By the way, wind noise is far more damaging to your hearing than engine and exhaust.

 

I hear the engine more without a lid on~ The strap from the lids catch the wind into my ears more then without one~ I prefer to hear the rpms then a wind tunnel~ I do, however, wear ear plugs with my lid on... unless I'm using the full face lid~ [8D]

 

I always wear a 1/2 helmet. Did an early morning trip a few days ago and wore my full face, it was very noisy compaired to the 1/2 helmet and couldn't hear the stereo very well with the full face, I always were earplugs.
