Default Do your kids like riding with you?

Snuck in one last real quick fall ride for this year (roads have been salted now) and took my son along. Both of them love riding with me, 9 and 6 years of age.

Both of my sons love riding on the back of the bike. They really like it if I pick one of them up from school. I spent many hours on the saddle beind my father growing up, which is why I got into riding 30 years ago. Pic below is my youngest son's first time on the back, we just went up to his school and back, hence no riding gear that I now make them wear on longer rides.

We had just gotten in from a 200 mile lunch date/ride. She loves riding with dad, my 2 older girls though, not so much.

I am envious of all of you. I can barely get my kids to even sit on the back.

My now 7 year old daughter will ride all day with me. My youngest which is 2 is still to small, but she loves to sit on the seat so I am guessing she will also enjoy the open road.

In my profile picture my daughter was 4 or 5, her favorite rides are when my parents are out riding with us. She is normally good for 150-200 miles before she starts falling asleep back there.
She also enjoys offroading in my rzr with me, I think she likes that even more since there are lots of other kids there and we stop a lot for beer breaks.

Enjoy that as long as you can, its great feeling! They grow up fast. All four of my kids rode with me when they were younger. Now if they ride with dad they are on their own rides. :-) My youngest bought an FZ1 last year, he just grins at me at stop lights.

A little gentle coaxing may change that. My son was interested for a while, but would always chicken out. I just try to include them if I'm in the garage, let him start it, honk the horn etc and now he usually comes with if I ask.

And boy do they ever like getting picked up at school. I'm close enough to the school that I can pick them both up in the RZR...that's good for a laugh too.

My kids were grown when I got back into street bikes, but my niece and nephew were young and loved to ride with me. They would always tell me to make it "loud". They loved it when I twisted the throttle. They didn't call it going fast, they called it going loud.

Funny story about picking them up from school. When my youngest daughter was in 6th grade she asked me if I would pick her up after school. I said sure I would. So she insisted on taking her helmet to school that day rather than me just bringing it with me. she carried around all day so the other kids could see. I picked her up and she was all smiles and made sure to talk to everyone nearby before she jumped on the back.

Then I didn't hear another word about for a week or so and I kinda wondered why? Finally she asked me one day if she could dye my (grey) beard? I laughed and said why would I do that? After some hesitation she said "cause my friends think my 'Grandpa' has a cool motorcycle."
