RE: No power!!!!!!!!!!
Was at the dealer first thing when they opened today. I very calmly, and clearly, explained all of the symptoms that I have noticed. I also reminded him, that I was just in for the oil pressure problem. I also mentioned that I thought possibly that the two things were connected, because it did not do it before I brought it in. He (the Service Writer) told me that he would work me in and even with the mid week Holiday, that they would try their best to get it back to me by weeks end.
So with all of that said, hopefully they find a minor problem, and fix it. I just hope that the problem "hides" from the tech, and they try to tell me.."its just worn out"......LOL with only 22, 000 miles it bette not be!!!
I know, Im a pesimist, but my dad has always wrenched on our own stuff, and has instilled in me that you cant trust someone else with your stuff...... Guess I better buy myself a service manual...LOL

RE: No power!!!!!!!!!!
everything you describe sounds like sumping.
a fouled plug is the easiest thing to check- but the operating temp wouldnt really affect that and moisture? come on dude- i wash my RK's with a hose and soapy water---- all the time and never encountered a problem with moisture (other than in the fuel guage)

RE: No power!!!!!!!!!!
You say bike was in shop for a clogged oil plunger releif valve?
I'll bet you the shop goofed up putting the pump back on right.
The A series pumps can be a bitch to align right and easy to damage the oil pump mounting O'ring.
Sumping is easy to check and I would bet that is your problem, but the dealer will likley deny it.
What happens is too much oil gets in the bottom of the crankcase (sump) and pump can't scavenge it out fast enough.
Now all the lower rotating parts have to move through that oil (be like you trying to run in a swimming pool with water up to your chest--bogs you down).
I think it is anything over 6 oz of oil in the sump.
HD is recommending let the bike idle a minute or two before shutting off.
But that doesn't relate to riding down the road and stopping every 10 minutes to idle to clear sumpand then go again.
Heck you would never get anywhere.
Would almost bet you will have to resort to legal action to get it fixed, but hope not.

RE: No power!!!!!!!!!!
That has been the most popular answer, so we will see. I stopped by yesterday, to see if they had done anything, but they still had 1 or 2 in front of me, but assured me that they would get to it this week.... I am anxious to say the least. I hate not having my scoot in the driveway. It is a dailey driver! Ughh, not to mention me and the wife use it for "date night". She loves it. Stay tuned for the results, as I will post hopefully to help someone else.

RE: No power!!!!!!!!!!
I am upset to say the least...the friggin goons didnt even touch the bike!!!! I went by Sunday, and walked up to the counter, and was asked did I have a bike in service... I very calmly told the gentleman my name and my story. He told me that they havent gotten to it yet, at which point we had a heart to heart. He agreed totally with me, but still yet offered nothing. I even asked him " will they get to this week?" nada, zip his reply was " we will try our best"... This isnt going in a good direction, and I told him so. You want repeat business??? LOL Not there it wont happen!
Dayum.....once they get your money, they dont know ya!

RE: No power!!!!!!!!!!
Finally got an answer to what the problem is......
Late Friday afternoon, I was outside and the wife took a message from the dealer. They said that the camshaft bearing had come apart, and torn up a few things when it did. He also said that they didnt know what caused it, but that they should have me up and running by the first of this week provided that they have all of the parts in stock. Funny thing is I never heard anything out of the ordinary. The only symptoms were simply loss of power...
Any thoughts ????

RE: No power!!!!!!!!!!
What caused it is a technician F.U.
On the TC88 you have to pull that cams to really
do an oil pump repair properly (can be done not pulling cams but hard
as a bitch to do so).
Tech didn't get the cams back in right or did not pre lube.
Hopefully they did this for free!!!

RE: No power!!!!!!!!!!
Picked her up yesterday finally. The service writer answered all of my questions and apologized for the inconvience and sent me on my way ...no charge of course, covered by warranty. When I start her up, she sounds "alive" instead of worn out. It has lots more power, feels strong. Oil pressure is higher than Ive ever seen it. Also when coming up through the gears, the pressure stays around 30-32 instead of gradually climbing.
My biggest complaint, is that throughout the whole process, including when the job was fininshed, is that I was the one that had to make contact. When I called yesterday to check on it, they said " oh yes it is fininshed".....oh well, I guess the important thing is I have it back, and she is noticeably stronger.
The list that they printed out wasnt real specific, it reads something like, camshaft bearing 'kit', gaskets 'kit'. Nothing mentioned about the actual cam, or oil pump or even tensioners, but they assured me that if it needed replacing that it was....not sure if I believe that or not, but she does run better.
I intend on putting a couple hundred miles on her, and then changing the oil.
