Wider rear tire

Yes, all 09-later TOURING have an Integral (to the hub) Cush Drive
If you want an OE Cast "Mag" in a wide 16" (without cush drive), about the only one is the 08-17 Dyna Fat Bob 16x5 (athough some of the new 2018-later Softails are using that size)
If you want to move up to 17" ... you may be able to work with 2006-later 17x6 wide hub Softail wheels (some models)
Of course there is the 17x4.5 from different Dyna, Softail, and Sportster Models

Good to hear there are some other options. I'm still feeling like I'll be sticking with the 16" wheel, unless I can find a good deal on one.
Thanks.

And if you decided to go the "NO Cush Drive" Route you could look at those other Factory "Wide" wheels (including 16") as an option (and relatively cheap)
Of course you can use aftermarket wheels with more options
Good Luck

I wasn't really talking about what they looked like ... I was just telling you that the Factory 09-later Touring wheels have a Cush Drive that is NOT removable...so you have to have to work with it

Oldhippie, I found a Fatbob wide rear rim that is 16 x5. However, a lot of the tires I'm finding all say to mount on a 5.5" rim. Other than a narrower cross section, what are the issues of mounting a 5.5" suggested rim tire on a 5" rim?
Found another rim, 17x6, could be from a deuce, Does anyone know if the wheel bearings from a deuce wheel can be changed from 3/4" to 1" bearings?
Thanks.

Using a non recommended size firm is never recommended. It not only creates a problem with bead sealing but also messes up the contact patch (ask the low rider folks about tire problems). Yes the bearings can be changed. I used a 17x6 from a Softail on my ‘09. Can’t remember if the bearings needed changing??

Have you gotten dimensions for the 2007 swing arm width ( at the pivot point ) and the 2009 swing arm? ... I looked for a bit and was unsuccessful .... I got into a similar situation with my 1979 FXEF when converting to a later model belt drive ... A little bit of research and a bit of "finalgaling" got me to where I wanted to be ... Good Luck

Not yet. That info seems kinda hard to find. I will be doing some measuring when the 09 swing arm gets here and will hopefully get it figured out.
Other than the generic "09 and later frames have been improved" statement, I haven't came up with any particular measurements that be compared to an '08 and earlier frame. I'm know that the fender support has changed because of the wider rear fender for the 09's and newer, but not much more than that when it comes to adding a wider rear tire.
