Check out this thread: https://www.hdforums.com/fb.asp?m=2208732. The guy seemed to get lower oil temp with RJ's deflectors.

after installing my RJS heat shield this summer I thought about when the temps fall in new york. i have been riding around and find that even with the shields on its very comfortable and I see no reason to remove them in winter. just goes to prove why America is still a great place to live. People like RJ making a fine product for the great American machine

Thanks for the info, does make sense they'd act like a scoop.
Also want to note while I'm here, it's great to see so many folks sharing and helping each other out.

Hey Bruce,... good to hear from you again. No, they won't fit an 08. Ill have to send you a diagram on where to make an additional bend on each 06 deflector, for them to fit an 08.

do a search here. You will find that RJs are the way to go. Unlike the others (HD/Kury/Shamrock) they actually work, fit and look great.
The Kuryakyn shields work fine and cost half as much as the RJ's. Have had mine installed for a year now.

I've got an adkustable backrest on my 08 Ultra. Looks like the rjs shields will fit over the adjustment handle. Can anyone verify?

Thanks
