RE: Happy wife on the RKC, need some quidence
I lowered my RK 1 1/2" in the rear with shorter shocks, and it handled like s#$t until I dropped the front 1" to match the rear, now it handles better. My suggestion lower both or not at all. Also as suggested by harley0711 a seat with a narrower nose helps a lot.

RE: Happy wife on the RKC, need some quidence
Thanks for the input and help. Here is what we decided yesterday and have scheduled for the 13th of this month.......
1000 mile service (amsoil synthetic)
touring low profile air shocks (same as on my SG)
stock heritage handle bars (will bring grips back, up and change the wrist angle)
big sucker air cleaner
reinhardt 2/1 exhaust (wife doesn't like the looks of my thunder header, am anxious tofeel and hearthe difference in the 2 bikes)
SERT (dialed in on dyno)
We checked out a couple of seats but feel the stock will be good after lowering and we will look into lowering the front as well.
Got 800 more miles to go by the 13th. Should be no problem as I can't get her off of the bikes. She is a riding machine.
Well, she actually is riding mine and putting me on th RKC due to the engine heat. Boy is there a big difference in the two bikes just by doing pipes, air cleaner and SERT. Heat, power and torqe.
Should I do some cams while I am at it? I do not want to get real radical but I sure do love but loads of torqe from 0 to 60. Would cams help and if so what recomendations?
Thanks,

A lot of forum members have said this guy is great rebuilding stock seats and changing the seating position, You may want to give him a call.

Road King Classics already come with the 12" shocks, your SG was actually fashioned from the RKC as far as ride level. So don't let them sell you a new set of shocks that are Identical to what you already have.

She actually rides my Street Glide with no problem. I have a brand new Corbin Solo Classic that I bought for my Street Glide but after 3 hrs and two different days, I can't get the dang thing to release right once on the bike. I was finally able to loosen the back bracket and get it off. It is in the box as we speak to be shipped back or sold. I could try it on the RKC though. It may line up better but she really likes the stock seat. The change in bars may put her in a better position to not need the lowering.

mine did the same thing at first, you gotta play with that a bit and dont tighten everything down to tight. the corbin seat really needs a bit of time for the protective rubber bumpers to wear in. you have the best seat you can buy (arguabley) i'd try some adjusting. by the way when the seat "locked " in the down position, i was advised by corbin to make a fist and give it a good pop,,right over the pin at the front of the seat,,,it released instantly. when i got my adjustment right it was 500 miles before i could lock it down fully and i did that with the same pop method.....a little quirky to start,,but i wouldnt trade it for the world

rk customs and the SG use the same rear shocks. The rkc and other touring bikes are about an inch taller. Switching to the low profile shocks will help you/her out. BTW, more pics please. And the bike, too, if ya got them.

bigreef, it is July 5th here. Where are the pics? LOL BTW, I found a good solution for making sure the ol' lady wont ride my bike. I added 18" apes, and she can't reach them. Just a thought. Although, that would make the RKC yours, since they don't make a 18" ape for a fairing bike...BUT, they do make a 16".hehe, a sure fire way to get her off your bike. LOL
