OK I know this has been brought up before, but I still need to know.

I saw where some of you have changed from the HD headphones to the J&M but have complained about the microphone not being sensitive enough in the VOX mode.

Our stock HD set seem to be cutting in and out on the passenger headset. So I did a search and tried to read all the post. The main complaint I saw about the J&M ,was the microphone compatability with the HK radio on the 06/07 Ulltras. I bought this bike so the wife and I could travel and I am willing to buy the best but I don't know what that is.

Any advice will be appreciated.

 

I forgot to mention that I thought I saw where John at J&M was looking into the problem last August but did he find a solution?

 

i have the premium J&M headsets on my '07 UC. They work great, both on intercom, radio, and even the CB. you can adjust the VOX of the microphone in the radio. Totally pleased with them.

 

I have the HD set and the intercom works great. I have to leave the VOX on "Open" for me to be happy. The downside of leaving the VOX "open" is the music volume cuts to about half when I do and as such I can not hear the music through either the head set or the external speakers if I am going much over 50 MPH.

I am impressed the with quality of the sound in the intercom mode and happy with the VOX feature. I am not happy witht the volume of the music however.

 

Careful w/the OEM headsets - the end WILL pull outta the helmet end, an' CAN damage the paint on yer tank - don't ask!

Ah replaced it w/the J&M units, an' am VERY pleased with the results!

When did you buy the J&M system?

 

i don't have any problems like you describe with my J&Ms. i never used the HD one that came with the bike, since i kept the headsets from my other bike with a J&M intercom and just bought the J&M '07 EG lower cords.they are well worth the price over the junk HD sells.

 

Been using the HD stuff for some time now...no problem here. Sure the cable came out of the helmet side ONCE....but the volume and intercom work well.

JMJOHN is a member here, I am surprised he didn't jump in on this one. I remember the issue being that you cannot use BOTH J&M and HD together...either one for BOTH helmets is a good work.

I know the HD retails for about $190 each, but you can get 20% off at Chicago or Zanotti's....or better yet, check the classifieds in the forum and you will get a good deal.

 

I bought the separate intercom system and headsets to initially use on my '06 WG early last year. bought the lower cords late last year to use the J&M headsets on the UC.

 

I thought the Elite system by J&M was around 229.00 for the headset and about $50.00 bucks for rhe lower cord. Times two for both rider and passenger.

TxRedNeck is right about the cable falling out. I also read his post on changing the high low headlight switch for the aux lamps. I will be doing that somtime soon.
