Lowering 2017 Road King Special
I’ve been looking for info on lowering my RKS...unfortunately most of the info I have found pertains to the Classic or Custom models.
Looking to drop the rear 1”. Blocks? Shocks?
Already have plans to recontour the seat but looking looking for a little more drop. Anyone done this to this model?
Im 5’8” and about 155...bike fits me ok but looking for that last little bit to get the feel I’m looking for.
Any help is is most appreciated. Thanks 10bones.

The last thing I would do is lower the bike! For that 'little extra' you seek there are other ways to consider. The nose of your seat quite probably forces your legs apart when you put your feet down, but can be reprofiled to improve your reach. Another simple thing is to take a look at your riding boots and consider getting a pair with thicker soles and heels, to give you a bit of a lift.
As for being flat-footed, if that is your goal, it is over-rated IMHO - I have never been able to do that with most of my bikes over the last 50 years. You're taller than me and should be fine! Saddle time is the best way to improve your confidence....

If you are already planning to redo the seat, wait until that's done before even thinking of anything else. Lowering the rear will change everything. Mainly ride quality and handling, for the worse. Change the seat if you wish and then get some good tall boots. grbrown is spot on that flat footing is over rated. 99.9% of the time your feet can easily be flat footed on the floor boards while you are rolling down the road. The other .1% of the time, you can use your toes or just stand up.
