Default Ultra Classic blowing ignition fuse

My 2009 Ultra Classic keeps blowing the 15 amp ignition fuse. Doesn’t do it all the time but seems to blow as soon as you push the start button. I’m thinking maybe I have a place in the wire that has rubbed the insulation off. Any ideas? Thanks Nathan

Wires run through the bars on 09? that is probably your most common cause. It will be a wire rubbed through. Start at the top where it's easy to get too.

Have you done any recent work on the bike, especially on the right side of the handle bars? It is not uncommon for a wire to get pinched when the switch boxes are tightened. Any other modifications that would be powered by the ignition fuse would be good candidates also. There is frequently a "here's the rest of the story" involved with problems like this.

No work on the bike. I was reading today and someone else had a similar problem. They found a rubbed place on the wiring harnesses under the fairing near the radio housing.

Mine rubbed through where the wire goes into the front fender the little rubber insert was gone and it chaffed the wire.

On the same theme, another possibility is a pinched wire in one of the handlebar switches. I would start by checking them.

Well guys, I think I found the issue. Black wire with red stripe had rubbed on cross brace causing a place in the insulation. Fixed that with some electrical tape and add some protection to the cross brace. Started every time since.
