I am looking for stickier tires for my Road Glide. I am not concerned with getting mileage. I want better performance.
I have always run American Elites but with the mods I have done on my bike recently, I would like to get more performance oriented tires. Pirelli Night Dragons seem to be popular but I don't think they can handle the weight of a touring bike. Maybe I am wrong. The fronts only look to be rated for 567 pounds. They do make a reinforced rear tire however.

Have you checked into Michelin Pilot Road tires ? I'm on my 4 Rear tire and my second front...On my Dyna. Check the weight range and if they are good the weight, they are a great handling tire. Only last about 4500 miles if you ride them hard, but they are amazing fun.

I have American Elites on my 2012 Road Glide Ultra. My bike have port and polished heads, cams, power commander, full system exhaust, big sucker intake, and a 107 kit. She likes them just fine. I ride hard. I scrape floorboards on turns. My prior bike was a Hayabusa with NOS. So I accelerate and turn hard. I have have ABS on 1 time and it was a hard braking and left turn on semi wet road. So I'm very happy with my tires. She even lifted the front tire off the ground off the line once, but I put her down fast, so no 12 o clock wheelies for me. At least not on my dresser. The Hayabusa was a whole different story. Sold her because wheelies and speed didn' scare me.

Heard Pirelli Night Dragons are quite sticky and grippy.

So happy with Avon Cobras (and Venoms before those) I wouldn't chance anything else. I can only assume anyone that likes the Dunlop 400 series that have been around for decades hasn't ridden on Avons. One thing to know about Avons, you want higher pressures in them. The Avon website has recommended tire pressures for different sizes, good to follow that. Avon isn't the only brand that way, whatever you get, check the manufacturer's website for tire pressures.
