RE: Yes, it's a Yamaha!
I took the Yamaha out for a few rides today. I am actually a little surprised. It was a lot tighter, and responsive than I thought a 21 year old bike would be. And yes, it is fast. No torque to speak of, but got up to 90 mph before I realized it. I had a lot of fun on it. Even with the speed capable on it, it still felt like a "toy". Not that I didn't respect it, or what it can do. Just, well, I can't explain it. Weird having a bike that is suppose to run at high rpm's. And, I couldn't really even hear it. Being as the bike is not worth a lot of money, I can't see putting any money into it. The only thing my wife wants to do to it is change out the mirrors. They are those old square ones. And the headlight is U-G-L-Y. But, it isn't MY bike, so anything she wants to do to it she can. Thanks for all the replies, she is very happy about the bike.
I couldn't get her to wait until the MSF course to ride it around the neighborhood. So, we went out to the street. I spent two hours showing her some basic maneuvers. I would show here something, then let her hop on and try it. She did extremely well. I was very impressed with the way she rode. Then we went around the block, I followed her on my rk custom. It was all residental, so we would stop at all the stop signs and I would give her pointers on how to handle certain situations, and what she should do differently. She followed my directions to a "T". Which is surprising, since she never listens to me, normally.
She is having a blast. Once she gets the course accomplished, I will bet we will be shopping for a HD for her. Thanks again for all the nice comments. I relayed them to her, and she is appreciative.
