Default We were scraping 'em on both sides.

I took the Top Gun Motorcycle School advanced class with instuctor Wells Cornette this week and all I can say is wow!

What a great class.

Wells is a former motorcycle officer from Louisiana and really knows how to teach.

He had us throwing our baggers around like they were dirt bikes.

Here is a video of Wells demonstrating a tight circle maneuver with no hands.

Here is another of him demonstrating a drill for us to do next. (sorry the quality is not great)

Here is a link to his web site. http://www.wellscornette.com/page/page/2985738.htm

Gets to be fun, once ya get it figured out doesn't it? I took ( and passed) the 80 hr Northwestern Institute Police Cert course last spring, and had a blast. (picked that Roadking up a BUNCH of times too).

Haven't had the chance to get my personal bike out to the range yet however. They only do training one day a month, and so far schedule just hasn't allowed for it. I am curious to see how much I have forgotten, or more so, how much my nerves over riding my own bike will affect me.

It really was a blast. We used our own bikes for this, but it is amazing how you kind of forget about it. Besides if you don't feel like you can make a turn you just have to remember to go ahead and run over the cones instead of dropping your baby. Wells drags his foot boards so much during his demonstrations that the edges are completely gone and the foot boards are like razor blades.

That is awesome! I wish there was a school like that here in California.

I'm not sure how equivalent this is to that school, but check this out:

Love to find a course like that here in Ohio. Blows my mind what these guys can do with a bagger. Someday...

Where did you take the course? He's from Opelousas with schools in Lafayette and Lake Charles. Did cross the state line or did he have a class in your neck of the woods?

They came to us. I am in Houston, TX (not as far as California or Ohio) and we got a group together andTopGunhad some other groups here the same week. He brought a Road King and his partner John (another moto cop) brought a Honda to do demonstrations and to use if you were uncomfortable doing anything on your own ride.

If your interested you may contact him and see if he would be willing to come where you are. With enough people lined up (especially if multiple days of lessons were lined up) he may want to do that.

Our group was going to go to Opelousas and stay overnight but talked to him about coming here and it saved us the trip and hotel expense.

Great course. The techiques he teaches are great and very practical. Now I just have to practice, but I was amazed at what I was able to do with the bike after the day.

FYI, Wells told me he's been working on DVD. Not sure when it will be available.

I don't think it would be as good as taking the course but for those too far away it might be helpful.
