I have a 2015 Breakout, Love it but my wife will not ride with me. I have 60 payments left (I just bout it not to long ago)

My question is this:

If the dealer will pay off my bike I could get the 2018 Street Glide with the 1.9% financing offered now. This would give me the same payment as now but would extend my loan 10 months.

Pros......
New bike with Warranty
Wife will Ride
More Tech such as radio and bluetooth
M8 motor
More comfort
Wife will ride with me(meaning more time on bike
Not as cool as the

Cons:
10 more months of payments
$3000 more over 10 months
????

I have been getting some neck pain riding the breakout. I raised the bars 2 inches but that did not help.
I am 50 years old and have a neck spinal fusion. Thinking I might sit up higher on the SG
Going this afternoon for a test ride. Hell they may not even offer me enough for the breakout so the whole thing might be a waste of time
What would you do??

A test ride will be key. Now, be aware the seat on the Street Glide will suck for your wife. If you want her comfort to be top, then look into a full touring bike, or at least a saddle that will be good with her. When I got my RGS, the wife, who had gone on a few rides on my V-Rod, wanted to ride all the time on my RGS. Saddle was terrible for her. Suspension is also not great for passengers.

 

The question is will the dealer actually pay off your current bike or put you upside down on it?I'm thinking the latter!

I recently traded a ‘17 for an ‘18 and the dealer worked it out. On an ‘18 SGS they have about $5,000 in mark-up a little less on a SG. With the ‘19 SGS getting a 114 and new BOOM system they are dealing on the ‘18s. My guess is if you didn’t finance in parts or add a lot of stuff to the Breakout you will be ok. I have owned a couple of SGs and really like them. If your wife is planning to ride very much you’ll want to look at a different seat and a backrest or a trunk. As for the neck pain plan on a rider backrest and 10-12” handlebars depending on your height and arm length. I am about the same age as you are. I have a Softail that is great for around town but when I take a trip or the wife rides it’s always in a touring bike.

The street glide would be an improvement over your current bike. You can always get a good deal on a ultra seat and add a quick disconnect sissy bar. Hope it works out for you.

 

Lose the Breakout.

 

I would go with the touring bike (SG or RG). My biggest concern for you is, if the dealer actually pays off your bike you will still be in a 68 month loan. I feel you will be upside down. This is common nowadays to finance vehicles up to 72 months. That is crazy in my book. I won't and never have gone over 48 months and that is on a car or truck.
