Default Changing from wire spokes to 28 spoke cast wheel

I"m changing over from the wire spokes on my road king classic to the 28 spoke cast wheels. The wheels came off an abs equipped bike and mine in non abs. Does anyone know what issues I may encounter. Like wheel bearing width or the axle sleeve length?

Should only have to swap out bearings.

I'm starting to think something is amiss. I set the left side bearing right down into it's seat and then put the axle spacer in. It sticks out beyond the seat on the right side , enough so the other bearing won't even seat flush.. It makes me think that when these bearings are installed at the shop, they set both flush with the edge of the seat and then seat them a little deeper to set them against the axle sleeve.Either that or I need to get a shorter axle sleeve, but I've used the one I pulled out.

That's the way it is on the 2009-later wheels (actually all wheels, it just pronounced on 2009-later) ... the Right side bearing is now pressed in and stops at the center spacer sleeve ... the bearing will NOT be "Bottomed Out" in the bore, but also will not be protruding

If you wanted to measure from the end of the spacer sleeve to the outside, you should see the bearing will be inset slightly (NOT protruding) when pressed in to the center spacer

I'm assuming you installed the 1st bearing where you removed the original ABS bearing.

And remember that the ABS bearing is 3mm thicker than the non ABS bearing....

I read your description again and I wanted some clarification ... Did you actually install the second bearing and have it stick-out?

If so, you probably installed the first bearing on the Right side (even though you thought it was the Left, I can explain that more if you come back with the stuff about Tire rotation or Brake Rotor "Sides")

Just know that on your FRONT wheel ... Shallow Bearing Bore = LEFT Side ... Deeper Bore = Right side

The Same center spacer is used along with the NON-ABS bearings.

Got any Pics of the install, especially showing the bearing "Inset"

The funny thing is when I changed out the bearings on my wire spoke rims the bearings set right to the shoulder (bottomed out) and the spacer was just touching both. This cast wheel presented a bit of a quandary for me. What I did learn from all of this is if the bike is non-abs then it doesn't matter what set of bearings you use, but not vis-versa. I'm lucky I have the bearing puller kit as it made it easy to pull my mistakes back out and put another new set in. I watched a number of videos and all of them showed the first bearing being 'bottomed out' That's where my problems started. I've still yet to do the rear wheel and pulley. I've noticed the parts diagram shows 2 standard bearings to go into the pulley hub but it's not deep enough (I have a replacement sprocket (pulley). Is there a single wider bearing available for this?

That's when I realized I either needed a shorter spacer or had missed a step.

No, no pics.
The shop manual identifies the left side of the wheel as the side with the HD DOT markings. That puts the deep bore on the left. In the end, does it really make such a difference?

Getting it all right is necessary to center the wheel and brake rotors correctly. The left (primary side) front bearing goes in first and bottoms against the hub. The other bearing bottoms against the spacer but not the hub. I believe the rear is the opposite. The pulley hub on 2009 up bikes has two standard bearings. These bikes have a total of six bearings. I didn’t press my pulley bearings so I don’t have any other details.
