Default 08 head pipes on an 09 up touring bike

I want true duals on my 2011 RK and I understand the advantages to other systems such as a 2-1 and so on. This is strictly a question of why an 08 system wont fit an 09 up bike. I was told the 09 frame change also made the bike longer than an 08 and thats the difference effecting fitment. I prefer the rear cylinder head pipe to be on the left rather than the right because I like the look and recently heard one in person with the same mufflers as mine yet the bike sounded so much better to me and gave the sound I've been searching for.

So does anyone know why the 08 wont interchange or will it bolt right on and its just simply a matter of the suppliers following the styles within the year ranges HD produced?

The other reason Im asking is I can get just the 08 head pipes locally but the 2009 up from Rinehart includes mufflers which I dont need.

Thanks

The 2009 and up touring models have a different frame so the headers mounting tabs and brackets won't be in the same location. Also I believe the left side cover on the pre-09 models is indented to make room for the left header. Check an 08 RK and compare with yours.

Yes, I believe it will fit. Several forum members have put 09 exhaust on 08 and older frames. That is a little trickier because of the mount on the oil pan. I can't see why an 08 wouldn't bolt up. Of course you have the sensors to deal with.

The 08 and down is a poor exhaust by design, why would you really want such a thing?
I cant see the exhaust note being so much difference that you would want to make such a poor move? If you really must, then I'm sure someone on here would gladly give or trade you pipes.
