Default Solo seat. Corbin Classic a review

Okay so its a Corbin Classic Solo on a 2018 FLHTK. I went with the heated option and installed the accessory wiring harness 69201599A. Wanted everything to be cleanly plugged in.

Corbin quoted the lead time as 3-4 weeks. They say the heated seats take an additional week. Well they shipped the seat within a week. Was very happy with the ship time. Not so happy with the ship cost. A flat rate of $50.00 to ship a 13lbs package.

Once received the seat was as advertised. Very good quality, fit and finish. This is what I expect for a seat with this price tag. These seats are not cheap. I could have purchased two competitor seats for the same cost. I have had Corbin seats previously on sport bikes and loved them. This past history is what justified the cost.

Couple of things. Corbins website advertises the heated seat with a two position high and low setting. Mine came with only one "on" or "off" for heat. I asked and Corbin says its been that way for years. They never changed the advertising on line.
Also in the notes on the website it states the seat will not work with the engine heat shields. I had no problem.

Even though I only have a few hours on the seat it achieved my goal of a comfortable solo seat.

Now here is the thing thing that really surprises me. The bike feels completely different. Its like it lost 200 lbs. It handles and rides so much better than the stock seat. Obviously it has to be the seating position.
What a difference in the ride.

I have a heated dual-tour seat I got a about three years ago. It has only an on/off switch, thanx for the clarification on that.

I have the plain Jane dual Tour and it is the best aftermarket seat I have had to date. Right out of the box, no break in, just butt ecstasy.

OP, I'm sure you are aware of the warranty, and this being a Harley touring bike, I suspect it will get more miles on it than your previous bikes? Now get with the program, get some apes on that sweet looking bike and really enjoy the ride!!! LOL

I put a Corbin true dual on my Ultra this spring. I should have done it a long time ago. Most comfortable seat I've had. I think the website referring to their seats not working with heat shields isn't the stock heat shields. I think they mean after market shields that fit between the seat and frame like Captain Itch leather heat shields.

So now after a few hundred miles in the new saddle no surprises other than the handling improvement. Nice comfortable seat. I will test with some 4-5 hour rides later this week.

One thing for sure if Corbin ever offers a ventilated / heated solo seat I would be all in.

Add the back rest and you have a floating sofa. The seat is just a all day touring pleasure.

Okay so after a couple thousand miles on the new seat I finally had a chance to try the heat option. It was 55 this morning and headed out for my normal 4-5 hour ride. While not that cold i was able to use it.

First I have to admit I am not easily amused or impressed. But I can tell you the heated option is worth the extra cost if you live in a cooler or cold climate.

This bike, the seat and the heated hand grips make for a very comfortable ride at 60-70 mph for 4.5 hours at 55 degrees.

There is room for improvement on the seat. It would be nice if it was adjustable like the hand grips. I found that I had to turn it off and on to regulate the temperature.
