If the grease is too tacky and won't run at all, how does it lubricate the bearings in the neck. I believe that is why HD uses what it does so the grease can do it's thing. Just a thought, maybe someone else has heard this theory. Sort of like the difference between wheel bearing grease and chassis grease.

i switched years ago to an exxon high temp grease...its red and very tacky...its used in the paving industry on hot topping equipment.....it does not run ooze or drip under any condition,but you have to go to a heavy equipment supplier to get it,,,,,,3 bucks for a tube that will last a lifetime (or a good portion of one). i would highly recomend the switch to anyone,once you clear out the stock grease you'll never have an issue again. and the prior advise about the N.G.L.I. certification is important there are major differences in grease products. i think harleys grease is way under spec for the application
