I wonder if this new firmware actually fixes anything of if it's just for adding other products like the multi-function hub?

Ialso would like to know what the firmware update does for the PCIII. Mine runs "OK" as in not wanting to mess with it, but if there is a known benefit I would do the upgrade.

I swear, just when I had decided against the PCIII because of all the stories about problems, you come up with this post!
I was pretty well decided on SERT, Big Sucker, and Samson pipes and having a local HD dealer install the SERT and tune it.
I would love to get the PCIII and A/C from Jamie and use his download and be done with it. I liked his pricing too.
What about HD factory warranty issues with the PCIII?

Thanks iclick,

I wasn't having any problems with my 07 amd PCIII.Installed the new firmware. First impression is the bike starts a little quicker, maybe 2 revolutions, then starts. It also seems to idle down on cold starts a little sooner. Nothing earth shattering, but seems alittlebetter. Thank you for posting this info for the rest of us to use.

Where do you get the permatex anti sieze? I have the PCIII, Rush 1.75, and K & N package from Jaime. The bike runs well and is much cooler, but I am getting a lot of decel popping. Anybody know of a good dyno shop in Columbus Ohio?
You should find anti-sieze at any auto-parts store, and Permatex is just one brand. See the original post above about a possible fix for the decel-popping problem.

The multi-function hub requires FW v2.1.2 or newer and the new version is 2.2.0, so that wasn't the reason for the update. Jamie told me they removed some unnecessary lines of code, is more efficient, and may help with some of the problems. In fact, on several threads here people have been reporting success with the update on the hestiation problem.

No one here can guarantee flawless performance, but I'm very happy with the unit and canned map from Jamie, although I've tweaked it further for better gas mileage. There should be no issues with the factory warranty unless the PCIII causes the failure of a stock part. That would be difficult to prove, and my dealer has no problems with this sort of thing as long as the aftermarket device doesn't cause the problem you're asking them to fix in warranty. Your dealer may not be as laid-back about it, though. If you ask they may give a CYA answer, like "Well, if it isn't genuine HD, it may void your warranty," or some such nebulous drivel. I wouldn't even ask them unless you have a good relationship with one of the service dudes.

I had a PCIII on my other bike and they are very good products...but.. I also had a couple of cuts-offs from a dead stop and that's unacceptable to me with my new 780 lb. SG..

And yes. I've been riding long enough to know how to control the throttle from a dead stop - this never happen before the PCIII was added on my other bike.

I'm going with a non-PCIII alternative with my SG..most likely the Thundermax.

Several on the ECM forum have reported the hesitation has been fixed with the install of the new firmware (v.2.2.0).

I updated my firmware over the weekend and made a couple little tweeks to the map. My flat spot is gone.[sm=bounceybounce.gif]
