Default Saddlebag hinge bolts came out - lid almost blew off

I was driving down the highway on my 2012 Street glide and the lid flew open. I pulled over and found all 5 small bolts that holds the hinge/handle to the bag lid came out and the lid was just held on by the piece of material that keeps it to the bag.
Anyone else had this issue?
I'm going to stop by the dealership and see if they have these in stock. I'm going to put lock-tite on them so this doesn't happen again.

I had it happen once on my 05. I bought bolts and lock nuts at a hardware store. Cost like 5 bucks to fix it.

My left bag hinge mechanism spring broke. That's when I realized how loose the nuts were on both of my bag hinges. Locktited them all. That spring is a small pain to replace. Have to grind the hinge pin weld off to drive the pin out. Then I TIG'ed it back in place.

When you change your oil, lube the pivot points, latches, etc. This includes the little spring in the saddlebag latch so it doesn’t break. When doing so, check the nuts/screws/bolts on the saddlebag latches. I’ve found mine loose before.

What he said ^^^^^^^^^^

Nylock nuts, fender washers and 5/16” bolts and there not going anywhere. Takes a little more time to remove the bags, but it’s worth the peace of mind regarding easy bag theft and those factory stays mysteriously popping off.

I had mine come start and caught it in time. All the nuts that were still on the bags were loose. I put lock tight on them and tightened them up and never had a problem again.

And keep them locked while riding. They may still wiggle apart but will at least stay on the bag / bike.

we've got 2 different conversations going on here. the op did not almost lose his entire bag so the convo about replacing dzus pins is not applicable. he almost lost his lid because the 5 little torx screws holding the hinge to the lid. they are supposed to come with a loctite patch on them, but i still add a dab myself. supposed to check them at every service....
