This Ultra just followed me home.
Just picked up a 2013 Ultra Classic 7 days ago. It's my favorite color. (Arrest me red). The original owner died this past January. He chromed the crap out of the bike with custom passenger and driver footrests, chrome handlebar controls, chrome passenger highway pegs. Also had the the tourpak setup as as factory quick disconnect. Added an oil cooler and trailer hitch. All this with only 6900 miles on it.
Since I got it, I have installed new Rinehart slipons, Arlen Ness Big Sucker and a Vance & Hines Fuelpak FP3. I have put on 700 miles since I bought it. Love the bike, the power, the 6 speed tranny and the ride although I am going to upgrade to progressive front and rear over the winter.
The only complaint about the bike is the heat on the right side rear cylinder area. Since doing the stage 1 it is a little better, but still hot. The complaints from my wife are the biggest problem and I don't blame her. When she is on the bike, the back side of my right thigh is on fire. Not fun at all.
My next step is going to be removing the cat from the stock header. Seems in my logic anyway, that removing the cat whose function is high heat to work properly, will reduce a lot of heat from the rear exhaust pipe once the restriction of the cat is removed.
If that doesn't work, it looks like my only option is to keep my Yamaha Royal Star full bagger which isn't all that terrible cause I like that bike, but I really like the "new to me" Ultra.
Here's a few pics before the Rineharts:

Beautiful bike. Last year before they ruined the Batwing, and cheapened all the directionals, fender lights, and fender badges.
I don't need one on my '03, but many people use a Crotch Cooler to protect their thighs from heat.

There may be an HDFORUM discount, but I'm not sure.

Nice bike! I know what you mean about the heat on the right side; experienced the same issue with my 2011 FLHTK. After installing a ceramic coated x-pipe and getting a proper tune, that issue was totally resolved- so much so that I was able to remove the mid-frame deflectors. You can download the correct tune with your FP3, but I highly recommend this for your headpipe.

Enjoy!

Congrats, we have the same year/model lol Good runner and will do you well. For cooling purposes, read http://www.dkcustomproducts.com/why-...cl-tc-dn-1.htm
I've had the same problems you are having now and that article has many good ideas/options that help cool it down.
