So...IMHO, for your first Harley, I’d stay away from a non nu:bears matching bike. For the price you I;ducat d, you should be able to get a decent OEM bike.

02 for $7,000 with 32k on it unless it has a hell of a lot of upgrades not something i would jump on, i picked up my 08 EG 20k on it for $6200 it was pretty much stock (private seller with cash on hand in december with 5" of snow on the ground) few years ago picked up a 02 RK with 18k on it mild upgrades for $3700 there out there just dont be in a rush and dont be afraid to make an offer (you'd be surprised some times the number they shoot back) you can always go up with your offer (nothing wrong with trying to save a buck or two)

for 7k it would have to be getting a PRISTINE condition, yeah you see them on CL or OFFER^ all he time for 7,8,9k but your seeing them up there for months! around here usually less miles ever now and then some come up like a 2007, 08 or 09 between 7 to 10k some are really nice some are dogs just need to weed true them and find a nice one

id go out and see a few bikes around you even if its a bike you dont like it will help you get a feel for the condition the bike is in and point out things you like or dislike about it

Agreed Stroker87, there are far to many bikes out there that are newer with less miles and cheaper. Definitely look around, there are plenty of better offers out there.

Be picky about the Bike you buy, because there is a ton Harley's out there on the market.

If you end up focusing on a TC, check the cam tensioner.

Walk away, too many good deals out there. Be choosy. Ride some bikes to figure out what fits you best. I had an ultra classic for a few months and it fit me terrible. Got rid of it in short order and found something better for me. Lots of good used bikes out there with minimum miles, Craigslist, CycleTrader are good sources to find great bikes with low mileage.

Buy the newest model with the least miles on it with in your budget. Some dealers do rider to rider financing pretty easy process. Just look around on Facebook marketplace or Craigslist

Thanks for all the advise. When I questioned the dealer more about the motor he couldn't explain why the vin said it had a twin can 88 . He tried to tell me it was the factory motor . So I asked him to send a picture of the crankcase numbers, he said he would get back to me and that was a few days ago . So my decision is to stay away.

This time of year everybody is trying to unload them before fall , and the new model year bikes start coming out. Lots of late model garage queens out there , I just saw a 14 Street Glide on FB today for $13,500 with 1800 miles so their out there. Important year changes , 2007 and newer have the hyd cam plate, 96 in , 6 speed , 2009 is the newer touring frame.
