Anyone running a Power Commander on a 1997 or 1998 Ultra?
I'm thinking of installinga DynajetPower Commander on my 1997 Ultra.
I noticed the specific Power Commander part number for my applicationis only for a 1997 or 1998 model year.
Anyone know what's so special about these 2 years?
Isthe Power Commander just as effective for the 97-98models?... (better or worse)?
I've done a lot of reading here on the Power Commander and it seems most people a very happy with it, I just want to be sure there isn't something special about my particular bike that will be an issue.
Thanks.

The part number for the Power Commander for the '97-'98 bikes is different because those years have an Evo motor. It is no less effective for the Evo than it is for Twinkies. I have been using a PC on my '98 since 2000, and love it. My only problem is that I am using a PCII, and the software used by tuners only works on the newer PC IIIs. I'll be upgrading soon.
It's one of the best mods out there. EVOs Rule!!

I have the Power commander IIIr on my 98 Road King. My bike runs beautiful. Fires right up and runs smooth with good power. I have Python pipes and a k&n filter. All this stuff was on the bike when I bought it recently so I can't compare it to stock. The booklet he gave me says Power commander IIIr for 1997-1998 EFI Harlry Davidson 1340 EVO. I f you have questions go to www.powercommander.com you can email questions. Good Luck. Shane

Thanks for the replies.
I bought my 1997 Ultralast fall at a dealer auction.
It has Screaming Eagleslip onsand some type of custom air filter similar to a Big Sucker under the stock air cleaner lid(maybe an early Screaming Eagle design).
I don't know what, if any, internal mods have been done.
The bike starts and runs great but...
I checked the plugs andthey look a little lean.
The bike also pops a little on decel which again leadsme to believe it's running lean.
I'm thinking I need to richen the fuel mixture.
I'm thinking of having a preloaded Power Commanderunit done a Fuelmoto then seeing how well it runs and possibly get it to a local dyno if needed.
