PULLEY bolts? What years? 08 and newer have "cush drive" pulleys. Where are the bolts, what am I missing? Also, when I CHECK a fastener I apply the specified torque. If it doesn't move, it is still tight, but I'm just an old "shade tree" guy.

Bolts stretch when torqued to create a clamp load on the parts being assembled. If they are over stretched or repeatedly stretch the bolt material will yield in it's molecular structure and fail to provide the required clamp load. All this being said some bolts are one time use and some are multiple use. If the manual says change them every time then by all means change them. If it says to change them after 3 times then you are safe to use them 3 times. You can always err on the side of safety and treat them as one time use only and change the bolts any time they are removed.
The sharpy marking trick Nomadmax mentioned would eliminate any need to re-torque them just to be checking the bolts.

In one of my above posts I mentioned "rotor" bolts but I was talking about pulley bolts. Sorry, I can't edit it now and it's been quoted as well.

As to the question of "what pulley bolts?", many of us ride older machines prior to IDS; bolts are how the pulley is held to the rear wheel.
