Default Can I remove the chrome bar that the license plate attaches to?

I'm rebuilding a wrecked '05 Road Glide. Since the saddlebags are muffed up, I'm going to just put on some stretched bags and either a fender overlay or extension. I would like to remove the chrome bar that the license plate connects to but I don't know for sure if that stabilizes the frame or actually has a purpose. I briefly took it off of my old Road King and didn't notice any difference.

Does anyone know if removing the bar will screw up the bike?

Thanks,
Joe

You can’t remove it completely, but you can cut it off just under the ends of the covers. The first 3 inches of that loop also support the vertical struts that go down the side of the fender to the bag supports.
