Default J&s bottle jack failure

Have had my j&s jack for 4 years now and the bottle jack recently started leaking and finally failed today, almost got the bike stuck up on the lift. Have seen a few posts where the bottle jacks have failed, will j&s send me a bottle jack free of charge or how much will it cost for replacement. Gonna contact them Monday but curious what others have experienced with their customer service

From their website:
All J&S Jacks are Made in the USA and guaranteed for life. We warranty our products against defects in workmanship for the lifetime of the product. Because we don’t manufacture the bottle jack, it is under warranty for two years after purchase. Bottle jack replacements may be purchased directly from us by calling 1-866-884-5586.

I called them and they overnighted one to me. Must have been about 5-6 years ago. No problems with the new one.

did you pull the rubber plug out and check to make sure that it is full of oil?

no I did not. Is there a way to add oil to the jack if it all leaked out?

yes, pull the rubber plug, fill it till it starts dripping out, then put the plug back in. then bleed as per j&s instructions.

How is filling it going to stop it from leaking oil again? Seems like a temporary fix at best.

Reading these posts make me glad I bought the cheapo craftsman, it has worked like a champ for me.

well, it will at least give him the ability to get the bike off the lift if it was up on it. and while temporary, if he got 4 years the first time, maybe he'll get another 4.

I've never regretted spending the money on my j&s jack. I've had it for about 7 years now, and it has worked 'like a champ' for me the whole time I've had it. I've had an el cheapo jack. it was nerve wracking every time I had to use it to lift my bike up. and if I needed to do any wheel work, definitely had to strap it down or it would wobble itself right off.
