Benifits of lowering your bike?
What are the pros and cons to lowering your bike? My wife is short and had made comments on some lowered bikes we saw at a car show this weekend, she liked the look and the thought of if its lower to the ground it would beeasier for her to get on and off the bike.
I would love to hear everyones opinion on the pros and cons.
Thanks

RE: Benifits of lowering your bike?
Keep in mind that those "show" bikes are probably using some high $ air suspension to get the extreme low look. Super low suspension really isn't that great for real-world riding. Heck, those "show" bikeshave to pump up just to get back on the trailer.
That said, I have my RK lowered 1" front & rear. IMO, 1" lower is about all you want for streetable and 2-up rideable bike.
Yes, clearance does suffer. My clearance issues have been the speed bump's fault andI don't ride aggressively enough to scrape floorboards.Suspension travel is less so "ride quality" is poorer. Again, "ride quality" is more the road's fault.
What's to like? The center of gravity is lower and the bike feels more controlable - even more so at low speeds & stops since you can get both feet flat. The bike looks much better proportioned - yeah, I think it looks cool
If you're still on the fence about lowered suspension -put some lower shocks on the rear. You get the most bang for your buck with rear shocks and its a quick swap-out.
