I slow with both brakes. Then make the final stop with just the rear, dropping my left foot. If it’s a stop, and intersection is clear I go. Sometimes I do a track stand stop. If it’s level and no traffic, or junk on the road. I stop for a few nano seconds then go without dropping my feet at all. I learned that racing track bicycles. If I am two up or have to stop more than a few seconds, after coming to a stop I put both down.
