I have a 2011 Ultra Limited with a SCREMIN EAGLE VENTILATOR AIR CLEANER KIT part #29490-09. I would like to install a external breather system. Can anyone steer me towards some company that makes a bolt on system. I tried DK Customs and they said that I would have to make modifications to my air filter for theirs to work. Or will I have to drill and tap my backplate and install fittings of some kind? Anybody else done this? Thanks for any and all suggestions.
You just need to drill and tap both sides of the back plate and install a 1/4" ID hose barb x 1/8" male NPT fitting. Fill the internal drain to the throttle body with RTV and attach a couple hoses to the fittings and run them to ground.
You have to drill the fitting on the left side on an angle to clear the IAC motor.
Almost all of them require some minor work. There are a couple that have different banjo fittings, but honestly can't remember the company name. It's really easy to drill and tap for the fitting though. The placement is on the bottom, just remember to angle them a bit for clearance around the throttle body. Can run braided line, fuel/oil line or 1/4" stainless tubing all easy enough. Some guys run them to a filter, catch can or just bleed to the ground. I'll keep my eyes open when surfing around for parts, may come across those banjo/bolt breathers. I'm pretty sure they are just vented to the atmosphere though. No fittings or lines to run. So could still get some oil misting on the side of the bike.
