For me I found out he rtv to be untrustworthy. I tapped the breather channels around an inch deep and put in set screws with red locktight then hit it with a cold chisel. Absolutely no chance anything backs out in to the intake.

That is the way you have to do it on a pre 2014 Rushmore, it's a little easier on Rushmore's
DK Customs does sales external breather kits for most years of Harley's, with tapes & drills
if you need them also.

Drilled and tapped mine as well. Set screws with red loctite.
Oh, make sure to step drill the holes. Best way to get a good clean shape (not oblong) because the bit moved when hand drilling.

Here is my ventilator with breather mod. Both hoses are zip tied underneath the throttle body and then run down to the front and are zip tied to the lower frame.

Tons of info / ideas in this thread:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-included.html

I did one on my '11 Limited using extended breather bolts with the round nipple (someone on here pointed me to them...SBates maybe IIRC) and the breather tubes from a 103HO stock backplate (which came with the HO cover I bought). just put barbed fittings and line on them, and ran them behind the backplate. Thought I had posted pics of my setup on here, but can't find them now....

Edit: just took a closer look at the air cleaner set-up you have, don't think the method i used will work for you. The thread above is still a good resource...

Here is a picture of my original setup:

Here is what I have now with the line just going to the ground:

that's why I did the stainless tubing for mine. Both lines run down to just under the frame behind the exhaust. Thing is, at low speeds the filters or catch cans aren't bad. But in higher speeds/winds the air pressure will create a vacuum and actually draw out more misting/oil. Larger the surface area, the more draw it will have. Every bike is different, but mine is a "sumper" and the catch can breather filter would pull oil. Fortunately it didn't blow down the side of the bike, but I know guys who were running the small filter just under the intake and would end up getting misted after a ride on the expressway. I can have my oil fill perfect, but still get misting. So the lines run down and tac welds every few inches help with any vibration fatigue. Other than that, they vent to atmosphere. Even put a small crimp at the openings to help cut down on exposed surface area. Now the engine breaths perfectly and one in a while i'll see just a little tiny droplet hanging onto the tube. But that's rare anymore.

Have you all noticed a difference in performance or engine temp running the external breather

I did not see any real performance increase, but I feel better about the oil mist that's not going onto my engine.

Not in temp, but ping now is non-existent.
