Windshield, Roadglide
#11
This subject is not brought up much now that the Rushmore/M8 bikes are out with vents.
But back in the day when no one except the select few who knew the true secret of the superior handling of the Road Glide and actually had them before it was super cool. Would install the following, Dog Bowl deflector, Engine Guard wind deflectors, Lower Fairings, and a curved style wind screen.

Add to this Sanchos (?) wings that attach to the sides of the fairing. The dog bowl deflector you are referring to is the down scooped dish that attaches to the bottom of the triple tree and helps as well. Mine is made by Kury.
And no Keith, never thought the RG was ugly. Took a while to grow on me enough to own one but it only took one ride. Now the Tour Glide, that was pretty ugly IMO. Sorry and don't intend to offend anyone that has one.
But again, OP has not provided specifics leaving everyone running with a useless thread.....
Hey YB, sweet looking bike ya got there!!!

I am 5'8" short and run a 12" windvest, Harley's tank deflectors, Sanchos wings and Sanchos deflector under the fairing. Me and my passenger get air but little buffeting. I added all of that in the order listed and each made life better behind the fairing.
As mentioned in an earlier post, there is a huge difference in smooth air and buffeting. Before my mods, my helmet would shake at some speeds so hard it would blur my vision. That's fatiguing and no fun.
I have ridden all day solo and two up on back roads and interstates with little to no buffeting. I think you will get weird air at some speed no matter what you do. Try to manage it in the speed where you like to be and if it gets rough at higher or lower speeds just adjust your speed to accommodate.
The 12" shield allows me to look over it instead of thru it which I prefer. Only downside is when you get caught in rain, the drops hang on to the edge and break off and hits me right about nose and glasses level. Irritating but kind of funny at the same time. The drops wiggle and tease you before releasing and smacking you in the face.
I will ill add this. I feel air differently depending on which helmet I wear, with a visor or not, and even my choice of jacket feels different. Not so much with flow but with wind noise.
That shows how small changes can make a difference.
OP, when you get it right, you will have a bike you can ride for hours and in comfort.

Sorry, some Addl info: I'm 5 9-1/2, on the bike its a 2017. I thought my signature showned up on posts and i have the bike listed in the signarure. The fairing is all stock as it came from the factory. The windvest is the only windshield brand-type I've tried so far.. PS, I was able to see over all of the 3 of the windvest shields I tried out (9,10 &12").

I have three shields and fourth one on the way...Original OEM shield, LRS Touring shield 16" for winter riding, Klock Werks sport fairing 14". I just ordered the LRS Stingray 14" med tint during last sale. I called company no problem and got an update on backlog. For me, you can't beat the LRS shields for the price point. No issues with quality and good fitment on my 2017 RGS.

Seriously, with the right tint it will look great. The look will grow on you, just like your ugly *** Road Glide. (admit it, there was a time in your life where you could not believe why anyone would buy one.)

My dealer won't even stock them for YEARS!
