I didn't use any special tools for removing my heads, other than dogbones for tqing. But a few I didn't tq on rear cylinder. Next maybe get a 1/4 tq wrench.
I have three torque wrench is all snap on quarter inch three eights and half-inch I could not get it to fit. I had even drop out the motor mount when I was disassembling. So it would drop a little farther. I bought a tool from motion pro that supposed to be a torque wrench extender and it broke. No big deal I took a 7/16 Socket and ground about a quarter inch off of it and it works perfect.
Yes, many use blue loctite on the fasteners. Be sure to torque the cam plate fasteners that go through the dowel pins on the lowest setting (90 inch lbs IIRC) as they are easy to strip. An alternative is to replace those ones with studs and 12 point nuts. Also be sure to center the oil pump as you tighten the bolts either using centering pins or rotating the rear wheel and alternately snugging the appropriate bolts.
