Exhaust on the glide
Morning people. Names is mike, I have a question about the stock slip ons on my 2016 FLHX.... I have Cobra 909 slip on mufflers...but they dont seem real loud. I cut out the stock pipes out and re installed them... Neighbors definately know that my bike is running.... The question i have is, with me gutting the stock pipes and putting them back on..is there going to be enough back pressure needed to not cause any problems? I know that the cats should be enough, but i wanted to throw this out to the universe and see what you all think....
thanks for the input... Mike

Mike: Gutting the cat from your header is what it sounds like you did. If that's all that you have done, then while you might have lost a little on the torque side, you will have gained on the HP end...most likely. And that won't cause any problems, because without anything done on the intake side of your motor, it isn't moving any more air through it than it was prior to your gutting the cat. If it's not pulling any more in, there's no more (additional) to blow out. Therefore, you haven't cause any problems with slightly less back pressure. If on the other hand you've changed your intake as well, in order to enable the motor to pull more air in, then yes, you could create problems if you don't at the same time add a fuel management system in order to aid the ecm in making the necessary adjustments to the motor to compensate for what would be an imbalance between air and fuel ratio.
Your question is a little murky, but hopefully this gives you some help in figuring out if you're good or not as your bike currently sits.
