Default LIghts, camera, action, What?

Scene I Take I

MIkeeeeeeeeeeee puts on all appropriate gear and throws the left leg over his waiting, warmed up 02 FLHTCI. Pulls through the carport and dismounts to go shut the gate.

Comes back to waiting, warmed up 02 FLHTCI and no running lights are on. Dash lights are working fine, but no head, tail, or even passing lamps. Test of the turn signals - OK. Brake light - OK.

Try the ingition switch several times. Same thing.

Ride the cage into work.

Fuse, or some sort of relay?

Mikeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Off hand, I dont know if there is one fuse that powers those particular items. I suspect not, but I can check the wiring schematic when I get home from work.

When I pulled my outer fairing off a while ago, I noticed that a few of the wires were chafing against the plastic of the inner fairing and might not have lasted too much longer. Maybe you have a broken wire in there.

Out of curiosity, does the brake light work off both pedal and lever? How about the fender tip lights? Horn?

Maybe the problem is your new cup holder

Brake lights work on both pedal and lever.
Horn.........didnt try it. It was 5:30 in the morning.
Everything else on the handlebars worked.

Fender tips and even my eagle's eyes dont work. Lights on the sides of the tour pack out also.

Only lights working - Gauges, TS indicators, neutral, etc. and brake lights and turn signals.

I sure hope its not the cupholder..........LOL

Mike,

Checked the service manual, the lights, brakes, and turn signals are on three seperate fuses. Check under the left side cover, the Lights fuse is in the second row from the wire harness, opposite the brake relay. It is on the outside row, a 15A fuse. The lights work directly off the ignition switch and fuse, no relay.

Good luck,
Jerry

this happened on my 05 classic dealer found a pinched wire on the front light bar, it was rubbed thru to metal, a little heat shrink and problem solved, think this happened when i pulled light bar off to buff and wax the fairing, i am more careful now but have heard of many problems like this and also water shorting out connectors, just my two sense, mike

Installed a new 15A fuse and everything is looking lovely. GO figure.

Must have been a weak fuse.

I coulldnt find any wires pulled tight or rubbed anywhere.

Hate to tell ya, but there ain't no such thing as a weak fuse. It's either good or bad. Sometimes one will get a broken connection inside the end where it can't be seen.

I think it might be because you mount your ride left leg first - Isn't that bad luck, backwards or something??????

Ya got me thinking Mike - I posted a poll in the general section to see if that is the problem!
