Default Can't Remove Fork Tube Plugs

I'm in the process of replacing springs and adding Ricor Intiminator valves. I haven't been able to remove the fork tube plugs.
I tried clamping the fork tubes with the lower tree, but the tubes spin when I try to remove the plugs.

I have the correct tool for the plugs and a long breaker bar, but I can't keep the tubes from spinning.

Tried a bench vise...same problem. The vise may have been too small for the job. I'm trying to find a friend with a bigger vise.

Any hints/secrets/ or processes I'm missing to loosen the plugs??

Bike is a 2010 Road King Classic.

Thanks

Impact driver. The one you never use that came with your cordless drill set.

Slide the fork tube into the lower triple tree far enough that the cap is about 1.5 inches above the lower tree and tighten the pinch bolt to hold the tube. Hold the handle bars and you should be able to loosen the cap. I've replaced my springs and then replaced the springs with cartridges. Worked for me me.

Are you talking about the top cap, or the bolt holding the damping rod in the lower?

The lower triple tree. Also, maybe a bit of Kroil or 50/50 acetone/ATF in case the threads are seized.

The suggestion about an impact wrench might work but as I envision the top of the fork...not the the cap but the threaded plug...there may be an issue getting a socket that fits that. I've not seen one, but that doesn't mean that it's not available.

This should work. Make sure they're 1.5 inches above.

If nhrider1 is talking about the bolt that holds the damper rod then you are correct, an impact gun pulls it right out.

I think he is trying to remove the top caps off the fork tubes . I have tried this and had to install the forks and torque then down to get off the caps.

the torque on fork cap bolt and damper bolt should be broken while the forks are still installed in the trees.
