has anyone done this and can give advice it should say lights not kights

 

To what are you referring as sidelights?

Ahhh, the passing lamps or spot lights. Sorry, never heard them referred to as side lights. So you are saying you are unable to get the trim rings on with your new LED’s? What brand LED’s did you get? Is the ring not closing enough and creating a gap?

 

does not look like the rings are wide enough to cover the light and close there is a slight groove on the body of the light housing the ring needs to set in but I cannot seem to get the ring in there the LED is thicker than the old old halogen light but I am told they fit. There is also some rubber gasket material inside the ring but not sure if I should take that out

I have run into a similar issue on my 13 ultra limited. I picked up Hogworkz Halo Led Lamps. It looks like it is just not seating properly.

 

The metal backing ring needs about 1/16 of an inch removed to open the inside hole up and then it will fit over the lip on the light.
