Default Stainless Steel fasteners

Has anyone used polished stainless steel screws on their engine covers and regretted it? Does it gall over time? Im tired of looking at the dull fasteners on my Road King.

I’ve used many polished stainless screws on my bikes. Love the look of chrome without the rust and corrosion. Just make sure u use the correct hardness of bolt for the application. On brake bolts etc, I use chromed steel bolts with stainless washers ( the bolts are stronger but the stainless washers won’t rust when bolt is torqued onto them). I use Gardner Westcott fasteners and have been very happy with them. Good luck!

Oh dear Lord.
I have swapped out more stock fasteners with polished and standard stainless fasteners than you can shake a stick at. I have never regretted it. I never use stainless on load bearing bolts, but for sure on everything else. I'll tell you another thing I like doing is swapping all my washers for brass washers. Just a little extra flash.

You look a little closer to what your removed {bolts} most of the newer bikes have stainless. grade 8. And yes I've replaced mine with polished ones.

A relatively easy way to do this is take your tools with you that will be needed. Head to your local Ace hardware, take one size out at a time and get what you need. I have done this and worked great for me.

But gee thanks for reminding me that I need to spend yet even more money on my new bike....

And get a fresh tube of anti-seize when you change them out.

I second that! Stainless into aluminum can be a problem at times.
