Bolts are marked with their hardness. Once you know the system, it's fairly easy to decipher.

I had some other mods I wanted done .Now I have the $ and the time ,They are also located in my state.He even has some 12 points with shaved down heads to fit on brake rotors for softails (nice to see them accommodate many different types of fasteners ) Just giving you & others some more options. I talk to the owner, nice guy,takes time to explain and give ideas or advice on some of his items.

Ride more....and smell the roses..beats sitting around the garage looking at Harley's fasteners..causing a leak or a pain someday when you do have to pull it apart...If you just have to..Cap it.

 

thats what my bike has now.......I only replaced the windscreen fairing bolts with stainless so far

 

as a steel guitar builder, i deal with aluminum extensively and use stainless fasteners. i replace the stock fasteners on my machines when they start looking bad. stainless will polish up like chrome. a big issue with the hd material is it is not aircraft quality and that poses an issue with corrosion but it doesn't take much to put the brakes on it. you can use anti-seize or silicon grease or even johnson paste wax which when it dries with engine heat acts like a mild thread locker.

 

Do an internet search for Diamond Engineering in Holly Hill FL (Daytona suburb). Ignore their website, it's completely useless for anything but their contact info. Call or email and ask for both of their catalogs. You will NOT believe what they have for Harleys, and metric too!. I've replaced damn near every visible fastener on my '16 FLHR with polished stainless 12 point, cap head or button head as needed. Wait until you see their catalogs!

we shut down the company a few years back since my father has macular degeneration. we still do some work but not like it was. the guitar was sold all around the world. there were no two alike, everything custom made to owner's spec and could range from 1500 dollars to 10,000 dollars (24k gold gilded).
i am in the process of building a shop and moving the machine tools and probably quit after materials are gone.
