Default Progressive 944 Standard or HD recommendations

I am about to upgrade shocks on my 06 Street Glide. I am leaning towards the Progressive 944 and am looking for help on whether to go with the standard or HD setup.

My wife rides with me 50% of the time and we occasionally use a tour pack for overnight trips. I am 200 lbs and she is 160 lbs. When riding solo I never have the tour pack on.

I am concerned that if I go with the standard shocks that the bike will bottom out with the wife and a tour pack on. On the other hand, it appears that the HD shocks will be rather stiff for solo.

Anyone have any experience with the Standard weight shocks riding two up and a tour pack?

I have them on my 13 Road Glide and I'm 240 lbs and wife 170 and with the standard set up with tour pak we bottom out a couple times when we were in Sturgis in 2015, Saw Progressive at Rapid City HD and talked with them and they installed the HD setup and set the sag so now with or with out the wife and tour pak it rides great!!!

Go with the standard springs. I'm 235 and passenger is 140 and while loaded up I turn the adjuster 3 turns from the lightest setting with no issues of bottoming out. I started out with the HD springs and it was too stiff unless I was loaded up. I run a 2006 FLHTCI so it's close to the same application when you're two up with the tour pak on.

Running 944 on the flh, don't remember the rate but I called them. Very helpful, used their recommendations for spring and spacers on the mono tube

I have HD springs on mine. I am 220 and wife is 140....I don't think it is too stiff...

I put 13.5" 944s on my 06 Road King. We always ride two up. I'm over 300 and my wife is around 180. Bike rides like a dream and no problems as far as bottoming out.

I have Progressive Suspension 13" 944-4020UT FST Ultra Touring Series Heavy Shocks installed for over 2 years now on my 2009 FLHTCU. Love the difference vs stock shocks. I ride 50% solo (5'11 200 lbs) 50% with wife. I followed the video
for setting the suspension sag.

Also have Progressive Suspension Monotube Fork Cartridge Kit 31-2500. Ride handles great!

At the end is your riding style preference. I like more of a stiff firm ride

Do you have heavy duty or standard springs?

I have the 944 with standard springs on 07 road king. Bike has a dead center cycles fairing, & streched saddlebags. I weigh 225 solo have shock setting at 2 turns. 2 up wife weighs around 140 plus tour pak , have shocks setting 5 turns.. You won't believe the difference a good set of shocks makes.
