Default cruise control

i am in the process of putting together an 08 street glide that was stolen and stripped.they took all the electrical part such as ecm, tss, coil, voltage regulator.my question is how do i tell for sure whether it has cruise or not as i need to buy handlebar controls and if any one with an 08 could maybe post some pics of their dash around the switch housing and hand controls.thanks in advance.

I guess I'm not really sure what you are looking for. Attached is a picture of a 2008 street glide dash with cruise control. However, I believe Cruise was an option on the 2008. Obviously, if the bike doesn't have cruise the cruise switch won't be there. If the blank is missing from your dash where the cruise switch (red light switch in picture) would go I would guess they removed the switch and it had cruise. I believe cruise is determined by the ECM that is installed but I could be (probably am) wrong on that.

Funny I wonder why they took the electrical. Where did you find it?

As you can see from the picture of the dash you should have a rocker switch labeled cruise if the switches are still there. If you get the service manual it would show you where to look for fuses or relays in the fuse box assuming it's still there. I believe 2008's still had throttle cables. If so look for the unit in the picture behind the left side cover and a cable from it to the bottom of the throttle body.

I have heard that this unit is discontinued or may be hard to find.

08 is the first year of throttle by wire . My 07 with throttle cables has factory cruise which appears to be the unit pictured above. 07 is obsolete .08 I'm not sure on. Good luck.

If you have throttle by wire you can have cruise if you want by just adding the switches. The computer controls the throttle body. The wiring is always there. Add the switches and have it enabled at the dealer.
