With Spring at the doorstep, my Ultra needs new tires. Considering the Dunlops American elites or the Metzler Me888 ultra. Can anyone give some feedback on these tires? I thought about the Avon Cobras but after reading some posts here I'm a little nervous. Any feedback would be helpful in making my decision. TY.

hbsoldier3, Guys posting they had sidewall separation. I had a set on my 06 Wing and loved them.I can't understand why they were having issues.. Wrong tire for the bike or improper inflation.

I put them on 2500 miles so far, best tire yet. Had the A/E's and CII's prior, cannot answer for the 888's. It all depends on how one rides that should determine which brand one goes with. For myself, 90% of my riding is in the canyons. I am not the guy who says I got 25,000 miles on my last set.
I just had American Elite's put on my wheels the other day. I just installed the wheels and took the bike for an hour ride yesterday. First impressions.....they ride great. I don't know if it's the tires, or the fact that they are freshly balanced tires....but they are smooth.
I've got Avon tyres on three bikes and have used them on my Harleys since the 1970s - never had problems. Great tyres! There is indeed a recent thread where a member has had problems, but there are many of us who love 'em.
All tire manufacturers at on point or another will have someone with a problem of some kind. It’s inevitable...
Avon is a top notch company. I am sure if you had a problem and you had bought them from a reputable vendor they would stand behind it.
