Hey bring it on. All I know is I went from a crammed 96 to a crammed 103 and I think I’m right...I am sure somebody could came , change the pistons and do head work on a 96 and blow my 103ho out the water but that’s not apples to apples.

Ok... now back to what I can afford .. so I can get new 103 jugs and pistons off a 2016 breakout. Got some SS 270 cams to go with it... If I get this right, just put the .30 gaskets in and I can get the most bang for my buck..

I wound up agreeing on a deal that will net me the complete top end off the 2016 103 that is coming apart with 100 miles on it. For $600 shipped (a pretty good deal I think) I'll be getting the heads, jugs, pistons, injectors and throttle body.

Great deal!

Not sure if the throttle body and injectors are any different than what's currently on my 96, but it's all coming from the same motor so I figured it cant hurt.

They are the same.

Now I'm trying to decide if the use of a gear drive cam is really worth twice the price. I cant check the run out to see if it's in spec until the bike is apart, which would add up to extra time down which I'm really not looking to do.

No need for gear drives!!! The hyd tensioners ya have are more than fine. Spend that money on headwork!!!

Tuners? haven't heard anything too great about the Harley tuners. The names I'm hearing are power vision and TTS...thoughts?
Do not get a HD tuner!!! I think the power vision is more user friendly but the TTS will do the same stuff. Be sure to add a proper Dyno tune with either. Some Dyno guys can/will tune with a license fee, without ya needing to buy a tuner. Good luck!

you will like the upgrade - I went from a stock-ish 96 road king to a stock-ish 103 road king and it was like dropping a big block in.
