As a huge BMW fan, I can say you're spot on with the value going down, and the bike holding. The trade sounds more than fair, and that's a beautiful Shark. Do it and don't look back.

Make the deal! It’s a win all-around since the Mrs. is now on-board and will help navigate. Keep us posted on your choice.

Good luck on your new 2003 Anniversary Edition.

Holy crap Dale, if that was your condensed version the original must have been a novel!
For future novels type them in a word doc and copy/paste into a forum post. It will reduce your frustration level a lot.

I can't address the trade itself but I can offer insight into that bike. I have a buddy that had that exact bike. Even the motor mods and exhaust. He got it in 04 or 05 from an HD tech that had built it for herself. He put many, many miles on it until he got a '14 ultra limited. My wife and I would then ride it 2 up when we visited and it had plenty of power. He finally sold it last fall to another friend and it's still going strong with just over 100k on the clock.

I will paraphrase an old saying, if you both think it's a good deal then it is. What you have told sounds like it fits that pretty well.
Good luck with your decision.

Go for it.

Check the build date on the tires to make sure they're less than 7 years old, then ride it! We love our 03. I'm thinking about upgrading the brakes and maybe adding a frame brace, but even stock it's a great bike.

I’d also suggest Cycletrader dot com to see what’s out there. It’ll give you a guide.

I’m in Ohio too, they can ask whatever they want for the bike, but around here at the end of the day, it will only sell for around $6500-$7000.

Im not sure what your car would fetch.

There are not as many road glides as there are Electra and road Kings, so that alone may keep it around the $7k range.

It will probably still be in that same range next year also. Especially if you don’t put many miles on it.
