Do you have a torque monster or highly modified engine? If so, go with Baker Drive train’s grudgebox. If not highly modified, I wouldn’t worry about any of it, but it’s your money and we’d be glad to spend it for you.

I agree, most will never have an issue with their Cruise Drive transmissions even with hopped up motors. I put 135K miles on mine with no issues what so ever and am running around 125 tq on my 107. Installed a Baker DD7 when I rebuilt the motor again because I could, not because I needed to. If I had decided to rebuilt the stock Cruise Drive I could have done it for a fraction of the cost and at that time I would have considered an upgrade like this.
It's quite a bit of work to get your gear set out in order to install the trap door assembly with several specialty tools involved. If you're paying someone to do the work my guess is you will be paying for at least 6-8 hours of shop time. I have torn down several 5-speed and 6-speed Cruise Drive transmissions to install Baker gear sets and it's a full day of tinkering for me not to mention the $800 or so invested in tools to get it done.
Also, If you are going to have the primary drive removed (which you will) you will have the added expense of the parts to put that back together and should consider replacing IPB and shifter shaft seal at that time as well.
It just seems like a lot of money to upgrade something that probably will never be a problem that could be spent on upgrading things that will.
truer words have never been spoken! why i asked the question, half of the time i shift from 1st to 2nd i end up in neutral. if i only pull the leaver slightly when doing the shift its ok. heard guys talking about main shaft moving at trap door(snap ring flexing) . this might add to neutral rattle also.besides that everything else seems ok.
What fluids do you run in tranny and primary? Do a full clutch adjustment and maybe consider the Baker throw out bearing as well. Lots of cheaper solutions than the trap door change.
