Wrong question. What bars do you need to be the most comfortable? Answer that then buy what you need.

You asked because presumably you think you could be more comfortable by going higher, but didnt think you could do that without buying cables and wires.

Do yourself a favor - dont low ball yourself and be less comfortable than you would otherwise be.

Besides, those stock cables and hoses are hideous anyway.

Couldn't agree more with this statement. And MY suggestion would be...break your project into two parts. First get the bars that you want. Mount them on the bike, and do use polyurethane bushings. Then decide if, and what size, hoses and cables you need. You might actually find that new won't be needed, but the only way ya know for certain is by doing this first. For instance, when I installed 12" bar on my FLHX, I didn't need any wiring extensions. I just rerouted the wiring from the chassis, nothing more needed.

If you need longer stuff, just find out how much longer ya need, get it, and make mounting it the second half. Yeah...might take a little longer, but no guesswork involved.

Ok you guys are absolutely correct. I am looking for comfort. Perhaps I should restate my question. I am leaning toward Paul Yaffee 10" Monkey Bars. Does anyone have any experience with these (knowing that they are very popular) and have any comments on whether or not cables, wires or brake lines need to be messed with?

Depending on your size will determine what you need. I'm 5'7 and ended up getting 12 1/2 Wild Ones for my 2010 Ultra. I had to replace the clutch and brake cables, wiring was just rerouted. No more neck and shoulder strain.

I put KST 12" on my 13 RG and just had to reroute the clutch cable!

Mostly 12 inch bars work on pre Rushmore bikes.
If I was you get what u want not what fits. I got 210 dollar bars so that the entire swap cost as much as a brand name bar and I like mine better.

Just recommended these in another thread. Kinda like LRS shields. Best bang for the buck IMO. Some of their other bars may interest you.

Cables & hoses are determined by the height, width & pull back of the bars. So, if the bars you're interested in are higher, but have less width and/or pullback than your present bars, you might not have to change any cables or hoses.

Like some others have said, get what will make you comfortable, even if it will cost you more bucks. And don't do the Mickey Mouse re-routing routine to save a few bucks. Spend the money, make it look good & be safe.
